Sri Lanka's Largest CIMA Business School
Wisdom Business Academy (WBA) is Sri Lanka's largest CIMA business school and a CIMA Registered Tuition Partner, based at the World Trade Centre in Colombo. With over 5,000 CIMA graduates and 213+ prize winners, WBA serves approximately 70% of Sri Lanka's CIMA student population.
Beyond CIMA, WBA offers ACCA, a BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting in partnership with the University of South Australia, the CGMA Finance Leadership Program, and a range of short professional courses. Their student base spans fresh undergraduates, working professionals, and executives — all with high expectations for learning quality and institutional support.
By 2020, it was clear that the scale and ambition of WBA's programmes had outgrown what traditional classroom delivery and manual administration could support. They needed a platform built for professional education — one that could handle blended learning, rigorous exam preparation, student management, and payments without requiring students or staff to juggle multiple disconnected tools.
Scaling a World-Class Institution on Manual Infrastructure
WBA was delivering a premium academic experience — but the systems running behind the scenes were not keeping pace. As student numbers grew and programmes expanded, the cracks began to show.
Study materials were distributed physically or through basic file-sharing tools. There was no central platform where students could access lecture recordings, course notes, and practice resources in one place. Tutors had no consistent way to track student engagement, identify struggling learners early, or deliver assessments at scale.
For professional accountancy students preparing for CIMA and ACCA exams, exam simulation is not a nice-to-have — it is an essential part of preparation. Yet WBA had no integrated way to deliver timed, structured practice exams that mirrored the actual testing environment. Students relied on third-party tools or physical mock papers, creating a disjointed and inconsistent preparation experience.
On the administrative side, enrollment was handled manually — paper forms, email confirmations, and in-person payment collection. As intake volumes increased, this became a bottleneck that strained staff and frustrated prospective students. Tracking who had enrolled, who had paid, and which programme they were in required constant manual reconciliation.
The core problems WBA needed to solve
- No unified learning platform — content scattered across physical packs, email, and file shares
- No exam simulation capability — CIMA and ACCA students had to use separate, disconnected tools
- Manual enrollment — paper forms, email threads, and in-person payment collection
- No visibility into student engagement or early warning signals for at-risk learners
- Disconnected systems requiring constant manual data reconciliation across departments
Kampus Wave LMS — Blended Learning Built for Professional Education
In 2020, WBA deployed Kampus Wave as their central learning management system — one of the earliest Wave implementations in Sri Lanka. The platform gave WBA a structured, professional-grade environment to deliver all their programmes digitally.
Lecture recordings, course notes, assignments, and assessments all moved into Wave. Students gained a single, consistent destination for everything related to their studies — whether they were CIMA Certificate level students or pursuing their Strategic level papers. Tutors gained tools to track engagement, monitor progress, and identify students who needed additional support.
Wave's blended learning model suited WBA's student mix well. Working professionals attending evening classes could catch up on recordings at their own pace. Full-time students had structured access to supplementary materials between sessions. And programme coordinators had a real-time view of how students across every cohort were performing.
Why Wave was the right fit for WBA
Professional accountancy education demands rigour, consistency, and flexibility. Kampus Wave was designed with exactly this in mind — structured course delivery, rich assessment tools, and the ability to support large student cohorts across multiple programmes simultaneously.
CIMA & ACCA Exam Simulation — Practice Under Real Exam Conditions
One of the most impactful capabilities WBA unlocked through Kampus Wave is the built-in exam simulation engine. Students preparing for CIMA and ACCA papers can now sit full practice exams inside the same platform they use for their coursework — timed, structured, and designed to mirror the actual exam environment.
The exam engine supports custom question banks, objective test questions, and case study formats that align with how CIMA and ACCA papers are structured. Students get immediate feedback on their answers, can review explanations, and track their performance over time. Tutors can see how students are performing across practice sessions and adjust their teaching focus accordingly.
This integration matters because fragmentation in exam preparation has a real cost. When students switch between a learning platform, a separate mock exam tool, and physical papers, the experience is inconsistent and the data is invisible to tutors. Bringing exam simulation inside Wave closed that gap entirely — giving students a seamless preparation journey and giving WBA's tutors the visibility they need to coach effectively.
What the exam simulation engine supports
- CIMA and ACCA objective test (OT) question banks with immediate feedback
- Timed exam simulations that mirror the actual testing environment
- Case study practice with structured response formats
- Performance tracking across multiple practice attempts
- Tutor-side dashboards to identify weak areas by student and by paper
Kampus Axis & Pulse — Digital Enrollment and Mobile Student Experience
As Wave transformed the learning experience, WBA extended the Kampus ecosystem with Kampus Axis for student information and enrollment management, and Kampus Pulse as the student-facing mobile app.
Axis brought structure to the enrollment process. Prospective students can now complete enrollment online — selecting their programme, submitting required documentation, and making payments digitally without visiting the campus or filling in paper forms. Enrollment data flows directly into the student information system, so WBA staff always have an accurate, real-time view of intake numbers, payment status, and programme distribution.
Kampus Pulse put the student experience on mobile. Students access their Wave course content, check schedules, receive notifications, and manage their account — all from their phone. For a student body that skews toward working professionals with busy schedules, having mobile access to study resources is not a convenience; it is a necessity.
The three-product stack — Wave, Axis, and Pulse — now operates as one platform. A student who enrolls through Axis is automatically provisioned in Wave with access to their programme content, and their account is accessible through Pulse from day one. No manual setup. No waiting. No gaps.

What WBA Achieved with the Kampus Ecosystem
WBA's phased deployment — Wave in 2020, followed by Axis and Pulse — gave the institution a stable foundation before expanding. Each stage delivered value on its own, and each stage made the next one easier. Today, WBA operates a fully integrated digital campus that serves thousands of students across multiple professional accountancy programmes.
- Learning centralised — all course content, recordings, and assessments live in one structured platform
- Exam preparation integrated — CIMA and ACCA students simulate real exams without leaving Wave
- Enrollment digitalized — online application, document submission, and payment in one flow via Axis
- Cash payments eliminated — digital fee collection through Axis and Pulse with automatic reconciliation
- Mobile-first student access — Pulse gives every student their campus in their pocket, on any device
- One connected platform — Wave, Axis, and Pulse share a single student record from enrollment to graduation
